Ok, let’s see. So far I think we have these ideas for the next night out:

Bowling
Laser tag
Iceskating
Egypt
Going to the Ashes
(but this can’t be serious; who’d want to go see a cricket game?)

I think we need more input, all you slicers out there. I know you can hear me.

…it might not be what you really need. But who are we to tell you what we need? Instead, this week we’ll look at the book of Mark in the Bible and see what Jesus thought one man needed most of all.

There was once a paralysed man whose friends couldn’t get him into a crowded to see Jesus, the great healer. So they climbed onto the roof, carefully cut a hole, and lowered him down to the ground, right at Jesus’ feet. Jesus looks up at the hole, then down at the paralysed man, and says a very, very strange thing.

Come to SLICE this Sunday at 10 O’clock and find out what happened next. Don’t forget to bring your friends!

At SLICE on Sunday we had a great discussion about meeting together so we can encourage each other. The boys and I talked about helping each other stay on the ‘crooked and narrow’ path when the wide, straight, yellow-brick road of the world can look so easy and safe and fun.

Let’s open it up and throw around some ideas. Let us know what you think!

Why should people come together to do church? Do we have to, or can we just choose to? Does God love us more when we come together, or doesn’t it really matter?

Find out answers to these and other questions this week at Slice when Fiona speaks to us from the Bible from the book of Hebrews.

If God is so great, and we are so small, how can we be friends? How does he make time for us all?

Because God loves us he wants to know all about us. We can talk to him and ask him for help in prayer.

But is there even more to prayer? Fiona’s going to tell us a little more at SLICE, 10am Sunday. Bring your friends!

How does God speak to us? Does he talk through trees? Does he talk through feelings? What about the Bible?

Come along to Slice at 10am this Sunday and find out the answer as we look at 2 Timothy chapter 3, verses 10 to 17.

Don’t miss out on the other great things, too, such as great activities, prayer, and other surprises!

Don’t miss out on a great night!

Welcome to the first-ever post at sylvaniayouth.org!

We’re thrilled to finally get a great website that’s really easy for all the leaders to update (without them needing a degree in computer science!)

Make sure you regularly check this site out to find out what’s happening each week at Slice and JOLT, our two great youth groups. You can also find out how to contact our leaders and all sorts of other random stuff.

And, don’t just sit there and read… write some comments! You can easily write stuff on the bottom of each post (even this one!) and we’d love to get your thoughts on the stuff we put up here.

Hope you enjoy this new space on the ‘net, and find it somewhere to learn more about how great it is to follow Jesus!
